Carpet Care
PERFORMANCE
-
With minimal but thoughtful maintenance, a well-constructed rug will perform impressively. Daily residential and commercial foot traffic is to be expected. Woven Concepts' rugs are high-performance and intended to be enjoyed regularly, in appropriately placed private and commercial interior settings.
-
The combination of artisan weaving techniques and quality material selection contributes to the durability and resilience of Woven Concepts' rug creations.
CARE & PROTECTION
-
Regular vacuuming is a primary consideration in rug care. Vacuuming twice a week in residential or medium traffic commercial applications is recommended. Vacuuming daily in high-traffic commercial applications is recommended.
-
Suction-type vacuuming will minimize fuzzing and sprouting. Beater bars and rotating brush attachments should not be used, as they may damage your rug
-
Immediate attention to spills and spots will yield the best results. Using a clean and absorbent white cloth, blot clean spills in the direction of the pile. Rug fibers may be spot cleaned using a neutral cleaning solution, such as diluted clear liquid soap foam, seltzer water, or fragrance-free, alcohol-free baby wipes.
-
Rug pad use is required for all area rugs, in all applications. The rug pad serves as the foundation of your rug, enhancing both comfort and durability. The rug pad serves as a barrier between the rug and the floor, reducing friction and wear caused by foot traffic. Additionally, the rug pad helps the rug lie flat, improves drape at the edges, and enhances its overall appearance. A third purpose of a rug pad is to help prevent the rug from slipping and bubbling, thereby enhancing safety.
-
Protectors on the feet of any tables or chairs that will be resting on top of the rug will lessen the appearance of indentation marks and wear.
-
To promote more even wear and color exposure, rotate your rug(s) periodically, approximately every six to twelve months, depending on traffic and sunlight exposure.
NORMAL OCCURRENCES
There are expected variations that are inherent to handmade rugs and are considered to be normal. Additionally, there are outside elements that may affect your rug's appearance over time. These normal occurrences include, but are not limited to the following:
-
Color variation is a natural occurrence, inherent to the dyeing process of yarns. Slight differences in temperature, dyeing time, and other factors can result in different shades and tonalities of the same color between different dye lots within otherwise identical production.
-
The color and texture of your rug may vary slightly from specification samples or from one rug to another, due to the use of natural fibers and variations between dye lots. A varying intensity or tonality of color between the approved sample and the finished rug is not considered to be a defect.

-
Slight textural differences may also occur due to the hand-washing and/or hand-shearing aspects of the finishing process.
-
Watermarking is an expected occurrence caused by slight directional changes in the pile, which cause light to reflect differently across the surface.
-
Subtle color fading with time is a normal occurrence, particularly as a result of sunlight exposure.
-
Roll marks are caused by rolling the rug for shipment, but will normally disappear with routine vacuuming.
-
Indentation marks caused by heavy furniture are a normal occurrence.
-
Highlighting and shading are normal occurrences, particularly in cut pile rugs, resulting from light reflecting at different angles on the surface. All cut pile materials are subject to shading and pile pressure.
-
Matting and crushing can occur in all rugs, especially at pivot points and traffic paths.
-
Initial and subtle fuzzing is a normal occurrence. Fuzzing is the result of loose fibers created during the weaving process. It will subside with routine vacuuming.
-
Occasional sprouting or small pulls of fiber tufts are normal occurrences. Simply surface trim the tuft with sharp shears and vacuum. Ridges or rows may develop in high-traffic areas.
CAUTION
-
Prolonged exposure to abnormal temperatures or undue moisture may cause permanent damage to the rug. Our rugs are intended for indoor use only.
-
One-time or repeated dragging of heavy or blunt objects across the rug can cause bunching as well as immediate or long-term damage to the integrity of the rug fibers.
-
Placement in any area regularly subjected to wheeled or rolling apparatuses may cause damage to the rug.
-
We strongly advise against the use of chemical, chlorinated, or any other solvent-based cleaning agents, which will likely degrade or permanently alter the color of the rug.
-
In-home and upholstery cleaning services are not suitable for rug cleaning, despite contrary claims. When professional cleaning is necessary, use only a reputable company that specializes in area rug washing, blocking, and drying.
